Our club's prejuding round must have worked as the beers we sent on to the competition placed 1st, 4th, and 6th, enough to get us the overall best score anyway. Having won the competition the first two years we saw our trophy dissapear for three years in a row. Now its back in our hands. Congradulations goes out to Ethan Allured for the 1st place beer. He won a special medal for this accomplishment. Ethan, stop down at Point Brew Supply to pick up your medal.

Golden Growler 2011 Cream Ale
BJCP 6A. Cream Ale
Category 6 — Light Hybrid Beer
Cream ale is a style of top-fermented American beer resembling a German Kölsch.
A cream ale is related to American lagers. They are generally brewed to be light and refreshing with a straw to pale golden color. Hop and malt flavor is usually subdued but some breweries give them a more assertive character..Commercial Examples: Genesee Cream Ale, Little Kings Cream Ale (Hudepohl), Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema, Sleeman Cream Ale, New Glarus Spotted Cow, Wisconsin Brewing Whitetail Cream Ale
While cream ales are top-fermented ales, they typically undergo an extended period of cold-conditioning or lagering after primary fermentation is complete. This reduces fruity esters and gives the beer a cleaner flavor. Some examples also have a lager yeast added for the cold-conditioning stage or are mixes of ales and lagers. Adjuncts such as corn and rice are used to lighten the body and flavor, although all-malt examples are available
